The Peninsula Shanghai is now recruiting for a Director of Engineering who has a strong experience in creating, planning, directing, and participating in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Engineering.

Key accountabilities
Ensure the maintenance of the Hotel assets in accordance with safety and statutory requirements, by the effective planning, directing, and controlling of engineering activities to meet long-term operational efficiency, quality and return on investment results.Direct engineering operations and maintenance economically and in accordance with the Design Engineers specifications, the Equipment Manufacturers' recommendations, the Property policies and procedures and the operations schedule and requirements.Obtains information and knowledge to keep abreast of industry practice, technological advancement, new methods, equipment, and materials.Ensure preventive maintenance program of all equipment installations, buildings, grounds, furniture, and fixtures to maximize utilization and minimum breakdown at a minimum cost.Plan, direct and coordinate operation of the Engineering department. Analyze and appraise monthly the effectiveness with which the Engineering department operates to see that established work policies and operational procedures are adhered to and that prompt corrective action is taken whenever needed.Report to the Hotel Manager major breakdowns affecting operations, and dates and durations of scheduled and unscheduled power interruptions; major incidents and emergencies affecting operations detailing extent of damage and injuries within 24 hours of the incident.
General requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering management position, preferably in a unionized hotelAbility to respond swiftly to all emergencies such as fires, power failures, floods and any safety hazard to hotel and assets and develop contingency plans to address each type of emergency.Must have stationary engineering license.Approachable, organized, ability to handle pressure, works well with diverse personalities.
